New Kent County is an area steeped in history.   There are 12 properties on the National Register of Historic Places located in the county.   One of the most noticeable is St. Peter’s Parish Church.   This church was founded in 1679 and is where our country’s first president, George Washington, and his bride, Martha Custis were married.

Other historic buildings of note include numerous homes, such as Criss Cross.  This home was constructed somewhere between 1688-1690 and was built by George Poindexter.   It is thought to be the first brick home in Virginia and the sixth oldest home in Virginia. Before the construction of St. Peter’s Church, services were held at Criss Cross.

New Kent is also home to the newest construction – the Villas at Viniterra are currently underway in New Kent.   These golf villa homes offer a lifestyle of leisure and luxury and are being built by the award-winning Biringer Builders.   The homes offer first floor living and a limited number of premiere golf course sites are available.
