Are You Smarter Than a 4th Grader?

| Holly Stephens

Did you know that there are over 410 National Park Service Parks (NPS) parks, monuments and areas in the United States?   And three of these areas are within an easy drive of Viniterra: Historic Jamestown, Yorktown Battlefield and the Colonial Parkway.

This year if you are a fourth-grader or age-equivalent free-choice learner, you and your family can receive a pass that will give you free access to hundreds of parks, lands and water through August, 2016.  Fourth graders (or their folks) can go to www.everykidinapark.gov and print a voucher to take with them on the road.

Jamestown is, of course, where our country was founded.  In addition to the fort, church and original traces of the settlement, you will be walking in the steps of Captain John Smith and Pocahontas.  Yorktown Battlefield is where it all ended for the British reign and today the same land, trenches and remains of fortifications are just a short drive away.  Connecting these two National Park Service Properties is a unique scenic roadway called Colonial Parkway. It is a 23-mile “parkway” stretching from the York River at Yorktown to the James River at Jamestown.   Several million travelers a year use this route to enjoy the natural cultural beauty of Virginia and a throwback to Colonial times.

Viniterra is located in the heart of New Kent County and centrally located between Williamsburg and Richmond, Virginia.   Take a drive and see the finest new homes located in this exclusive community surrounded by not only some of our country’s finest history but also the New Kent Winery and The Club at Viniterra Golf Course.
